Dr. Sandra Gelbard
Sandra Gelbard, MD is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician, founder of Park Avenue Medical Concierge, and Clinical Instructor at NYU Langone and Lenox Hill Hospital. Her practice focuses on prevention by lowering systemic inflammation, which Dr. Gelbard believes is the cornerstone of the development of all disease states, including heart disease, stroke, autoimmune disease, and cancer. Closely monitoring many important lab markers, including hormones, vitamin levels, and antioxidants, her practice offers customized one-to-one medical care and the highest level of customer service.

Education & Background
Dr. Gelbard completed her medical training at NYU Langone Medical Center serving as Chief Resident. She was then appointed Chairman of the Department of Hospital Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital where she implemented their first Hospitalist program. She then began a full-time teaching attending at Lenox Hill/NYU Langone Medical Center. In 2006, she left her academic position to create a practice that would truly foster a close doctor-patient relationship. Park Avenue Medical Concierge was the first concierge medical practice established in Manhattan.

Dr. Gelbard completed her undergraduate studies in Biochemistry at Brandeis University, where she spent 4 years performing basic research in the laboratory of Dr. K.C. Hayes. Her research focused on the effects of inflammation, cholesterol metabolism, and vitamin supplementation. It was their research that led to the development of Smart Balance products, which are now sold nationally. Through this experience, Dr. Gelbard gained deep insights into the effects of systemic inflammation and how this translates into the development of disease. ​​

Involvement
Dr. Gelbard is a member of the National Lipid Association, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians. She serves on the executive boards of ATA (Achievement Through Athletics), which offers after-school activities and meals to underprivileged students who maintain a B average. She serves on the board of Independent Doctors of New York as the Membership Chair. She also serves as the Chief Medical Officer of the Endometriosis Foundation of America, in addition to being a board member of the Bronx Documentary Center.

Dr. Gelbard was the Orphaned Starfish Foundation's Honoree of the Year 2024. Prior to the honor, she and her family traveled to Panama to work with children in need. ​
